The cancellation policy is presented to you at the time of registration and is part of the Terms &
Conditions you must agree to when registering for the test.
What if I need to postpone or cancel my application?
You can cancel your IELTS test registration at any time before taking your test by notifying your Test Centre.
Refund terms depend upon when you cancel and
whether exceptional circumstances apply.
Time to test date:
More than 14 days (excluding the test day) before the test:
If you cancel your IELTS test registration more than 14 days before the test (Test day is not counted) you
will receive a 75% refund of the total test fee.
Within 14 days but more than five days (excluding the test day) before the test:
If you cancel your IELTS test registration within 14 days but more than five days before the test (Test
day is not counted) you will receive a 50% refund of the total test fee.
Before five days (excluding the test day) of the test
If you cancel your IELTS test registration five days before the test (Test day is not counted) you
will not receive any refund.
Before five days (excluding the test day) of the test
If you cancel your IELTS test registration five days before the test (Test day is not counted) you
will not receive any refund.
Transferring your test date:
You can now transfer your own IELTS test date online through your Test Taker Portal, without contacting the test centre. Transfer terms depend on how far ahead you make the request:
15 or more days before the test:
Free transfer to a new test date.
5 to 14 days before the test:
Transfer available with a 25% admin fee of the total test fee.
Within 4 days of the test:
Transfers are not available; this is treated as a cancellation under the refund terms above.
